Test Cricket in Pakistan

Test Cricket in Pakistan

It's miserable for the home side to lose two consecutive series. Pakistan Cricket Team first draws two back-to-back matches against Australia then lost the last test match in Lahore in September last year. Then after ICC T20 World Cup that was held in Australia back in October, the England Men's Cricket Team the Winner of the World Cup toured Pakistan back in November where Pakistan lost three out of three test matches. This was a big defeat for Babar Azam and his team. Now Newzeland is touring Pakistan for two test matches and three ODIs. First Test resulted in a draw and the second match full of drama come ended in a draw.

Reasons:

Let's have a look at why Team Babar is losing Two consecutive series

The first and main reason is the weak bowling lineup. You can't win matches without strong bowling. In conditions like Pakistan, you required a good pace attack with a good spinner to help to bowl out other teams twice in a test. Pakistan was lacking a genuine pace attack, and although Abrar, Zahid, and Nouman did well their job they lack support from other hands.

The second big reason is batting. Pakistani batters lost their wickets on crunch movements in all series matches. They did the same mistakes again and again. This kind of mistake comes from Azhar Ali who just took retirement from Test Cricket, Captain Babar Azam threw away his wicket in a similar style. Imam ul Haq set himself on the crease but threw away his wicket in the crunch moment of the game. Rizwan who was dropped in the Newzeland series did the same mistake in the last two series. Shan Masood who just come back to the squad gifted his wicket.

The Pakistan batting lineup is missing Fawad Alam, the man of patience. Dropping Fawad in the main season was a blunder that cost Pakistan too much. In the test squad, Fawad shouldn't be dropped in any case. He brings too much to the team that this young team needs too much.

Pitches:

Pakistani Pitches were not up to the mark in any series. These kinds of pitches lost interest in the game that's why the spectator turnout in these matches is very low. Pitches without bounce and spin are totally dead. Nothing for the bowlers on these surfaces. These pitches couldn't help Pakistan to improve its image in world cricket.

Positives:

Let's talk about the positive points for the Pakistan side Salman Ali Agha, who is a good prospect in the longer format in lower order lineup. He can bowl too. The other positive is Abrar. A good bowler who can tease opponents in the longer format. Giving chance to Sarfaraz in the Kiwi series was a game changer. He scored 86 in the first inning of 1st Test. Then 53 in the second and in 2nd test he scored 76 and a big hundred in the run chase. Scoring a hundred in a run chase when the batting line is in deep deep trouble. Saud Shakeel the main prospect of the season. The way he played the all matches was phenomenal. Purely a test-match player with good defense and technique.

For Captain Babar Azam:

Babar needs to be proactive and think out of the box for becoming a great captain. He fails so many times in the most important moments to read the game. He should score big if he wants to win matches as team Pakistan depends on Babar too much. He and his team need to understand if they want to win their batter shouldn't throw their wicket easily. Their side seems good but needs some mentoring.
